Mason jars are truly a Southern staple. Whether you’re sweet tea-sippin’ or using them to house your “new shoe fund,” you know them, and you love them. They add the perfect touch of Southern charm without running the risk of being cheesy or overdone. I will say that you country bumpkins have GOT to stop making “redneck wine glasses” out of them, though. Not cute, y’all. There are a plethora of options to optimize your Mason jars, however, that will add a simple elegance to any occasion. Some that we’re currently obsessing over—
Floating candle centerpieces: This pièce de résistance adds that certain something-something that other lackluster centerpieces do not. The candlelight creates a romantic ambiance perfect for a wedding reception or dinner party. Simply tie a decorative ribbon (or string) to the top of the Mason jar with a secure bow, and fill with water. Add a floating candle in each jar and group three or four together on the table. You can also add crystals or pebbles at the bottom of the jars to create an even more detailed look. Simply light ‘em up, and enjoy this gorgeous centerpiece!
Tinted jar in rainbow: This DIY is a little more complex than the candle centerpiece, but it’s totally worth it. These are fun conversation pieces to keep as home accents and are equally impressive as gifts—just fill it with goodies, add a bow, and voilà! For this adorable (and colorful!) project, you’ll need your jars, Modge Podge in Gloss, food coloring, ramekins to mix colors and newspaper. For full instructions, see here: www.momtastic.com.
Last but certainly not least on our fave mason jar DIYs is the mason jar soap dispenser. I know this sounds a little dicey, but I promise it’s actually mega chic. It adds a special homey feel that is both fresh and familiar. It’s a simple three-strep process that will leave your bathroom (or kitchen) cute and cozy.
