The handcrafted jewelry designs of Knot + Bow are simply divine. Based in Macon, GA, the stunning colors and fun-shaped beads are pretty yet fun. Designs come in semi-precious stones like magnesite, turquoise and opal, and some are even hand dipped in 18 karat gold overlay. Haute Pink got an exclusive interview with Karli Campbell, Knot + Bow’s designer and founder, to get the scoop on her jewelry, inspirations, and what it’s like to be a southern fashionista. Check out the interview and her designs for wrist candy galore (oh and earrings and necklaces too)!
HP: What do you think defines “Southern Fashion”?
KC: Southern fashion is evolving. It has always been very classic but [I] believe people are starting to pay more attention to trends and incorporating them into everyday wears. We also are heavily influenced by the west coast taking a little longer to adapt to certain styles, but [I] believe this all has to do with the conservative mindset of the South.
HP: How were you able to take your experience at Theia and with Don O’Neill in New York City and apply it here in the South?
KC: Working for Theia under Don O’Neill was incredible. He is a prime example of taking a dream and converting it into a reality. He inspired me to take what I love and make it my own.
HP: Where do you find your inspiration?
KC: Living in New York really drew upon my inspiration for my collection. Street style in the city inspires me to look at an outfit as a blank canvas and think, “What can I add to give people a sense of individuality?”
HP: Do your designs reflect your personal style?
KC: My brand is a reflection of myself and I am having fun incorporating elements of my life into each piece. Style is always changing and is a reflection of who you are. I want my collection to evolve as I do, and to reflect my interest as they’re happening.
HP: Your jewelry is very colorful. Why are you drawn to color? What makes color so attractive to people?
KC: There is a lot of color in my collection that’s for sure!! I feel super youthful being that I am in my early 20s so I’m really letting my personality play a big role in my brand. Color can transform a simple outfit and make it fun and fresh.
HP: Where can we find your jewelry?
KC: My entire collection can be viewed and purchased through my facebook page, www.facebook.com/knotbowdesigns. I am also very excited that it can now be purchased in nine boutiques throughout the states.
